Finley is a border collie mix who came to us through a referral from a family law attorney — specifically, the attorney's client, who was the attorney's opposing counsel's client's ex-spouse. It's Chicago. We don't ask.
What we do is maintain a shared digital log — arrival notes, behavioral observations, meal records — accessible to both authorized adults. Drop-off times don't overlap. Pickup instructions are on file for both. Finley doesn't carry the tension of the handoff. He just runs.
What we built for situations like this: Multi-guardian authorization. Separate pickup windows. Daily report cards sent to both contacts simultaneously. No mediation required.
